Enter your last day and how the job ended. The calculator applies the Maine deadline, tells you how many days late the payment is, and estimates the possible late-pay penalty. It runs in your browser — nothing is sent to us.
The deadline is the statutory maximum in Maine: Wages must be paid within a reasonable time after demand: the earlier of the next regular payday or two weeks after the demand (26 M.R.S. § 626). Resignation follows the same rule: the earlier of the next regular payday or two weeks after your demand. The penalty estimate uses 26 M.R.S. § 626: an employer that fails to pay wages and accrued vacation as required is liable for twice the amount of the unpaid wages as liquidated damages, plus costs of suit including a reasonable attorney's fee.
This is an estimate, not a legal determination. Penalty provisions usually depend on the employer acting wilfully, and a court or agency decides the final number. Use the result to decide whether to send a demand, not as a promise of what you will collect.
