Enter your last day and how the job ended. The calculator applies the Massachusetts deadline, tells you how many days late the payment is, and estimates the possible late-pay penalty. It runs in your browser — nothing is sent to us.
The deadline is the statutory maximum in Massachusetts: An employee who is discharged must be paid in full on the day of discharge (M.G.L. c. 149, § 148). Massachusetts is one of the few states that requires same-day payment. An employee who leaves voluntarily must be paid in full on the next regular payday; if there is no regular payday, on the following Saturday. The penalty estimate uses M.G.L. c. 149, § 150: a prevailing employee recovers the unpaid wages plus treble damages, reasonable attorney's fees and costs. Massachusetts is one of the strongest late-pay statutes in the country on the employee side.
This is an estimate, not a legal determination. Penalty provisions usually depend on the employer acting wilfully, and a court or agency decides the final number. Use the result to decide whether to send a demand, not as a promise of what you will collect.
