Enter your last day and how the job ended. The calculator applies the Minnesota deadline, tells you how many days late the payment is, and estimates the possible late-pay penalty. It runs in your browser — nothing is sent to us.
The deadline is the statutory maximum in Minnesota: On discharge, wages and commissions actually earned and unpaid are immediately due and payable upon the employee's demand (Minn. Stat. § 181.13). Minnesota is close to a same-day state: the demand starts the clock. If you resign, wages are due by the next regular payday; the immediate-payment rule in § 181.13 is written for employees who are discharged. The penalty estimate uses Minn. Stat. § 181.13: in addition to the wages, the discharged employee may recover a penalty equal to average daily earnings at the regular rate of pay for each day the wages remain unpaid, up to 15 days.
This is an estimate, not a legal determination. Penalty provisions usually depend on the employer acting wilfully, and a court or agency decides the final number. Use the result to decide whether to send a demand, not as a promise of what you will collect.
