When is my final paycheck due in New Jersey?

Enter your last day and how the job ended. The calculator applies the New Jersey deadline, tells you how many days late the payment is, and estimates the possible late-pay penalty. It runs in your browser — nothing is sent to us.

Only matters in states where the deadline is "the next payday".

How this is calculated

The deadline is the statutory maximum in New Jersey: On a discharge, layoff or resignation, the employer must pay all wages due not later than the regular payday for the pay period in which the separation took place (N.J.S.A. 34:11-4.3). Payment may be by the usual channels or by mail if you ask. Resignation is covered by the same provision: all wages due by the regular payday for the pay period in which you left. The penalty estimate uses N.J.S.A. 34:11-4.10: a court may award liquidated damages equal to 200% of the unpaid wages, plus costs and attorney's fees.

This is an estimate, not a legal determination. Penalty provisions usually depend on the employer acting wilfully, and a court or agency decides the final number. Use the result to decide whether to send a demand, not as a promise of what you will collect.
