Enter your last day and how the job ended. The calculator applies the Rhode Island deadline, tells you how many days late the payment is, and estimates the possible late-pay penalty. It runs in your browser — nothing is sent to us.
The deadline is the statutory maximum in Rhode Island: Unpaid wages become due on the next regular payday after the separation (R.I. Gen. Laws § 28-14-4). Resignation follows the same rule: payment on the next regular payday. The penalty estimate uses Rhode Island does not use a fixed multiple. Instead § 28-14-19 provides interest at 12% a year on the unpaid wages from the date of non-payment, reasonable attorney's fees and costs, and a civil penalty.
This is an estimate, not a legal determination. Penalty provisions usually depend on the employer acting wilfully, and a court or agency decides the final number. Use the result to decide whether to send a demand, not as a promise of what you will collect.
