When is my final paycheck due in the District of Columbia?

Enter your last day and how the job ended. The calculator applies the District of Columbia deadline, tells you how many days late the payment is, and estimates the possible late-pay penalty. It runs in your browser — nothing is sent to us.

Only matters in states where the deadline is "the next payday".

How this is calculated

The deadline is the statutory maximum in the District of Columbia: If you are discharged, your wages must be paid not later than the working day after the discharge. If you were responsible for the employer's money, the employer may take up to 4 days to verify your accounts before paying (D.C. Code § 32-1303(1)). If you resign, wages are due on the next regular payday or within 7 days of resigning, whichever comes first (§ 32-1303(2)). The penalty estimate uses D.C. Code § 32-1303(4): liquidated damages of 10% of the unpaid wages for each working day the failure continues after the due date, or treble the unpaid wages, whichever is smaller. Ten working days of delay already reaches the treble ceiling.

This is an estimate, not a legal determination. Penalty provisions usually depend on the employer acting wilfully, and a court or agency decides the final number. Use the result to decide whether to send a demand, not as a promise of what you will collect.
